Ten Natural Solutions For Preventing Constipation

All of us can suffer from digestive problems, especially constipation! Not very sexy, we admit it! To get rid of it as soon as possible, you can call for medication, but before you reach this solution, we will reveal to you some of your grandmother's natural remedies to put an end to this discomfort that can quickly become painful.

1. Self-massage

Self-massage may seem boring but is very useful! A simple 5-minute belly massage, once or twice a day, can stimulate the activity of the bowels. Lie on your back, place your palm on the navel and make firm circular movements clockwise. Add physical activity to strengthen your abdominal muscles. Laughing also provides an excellent natural bowel massage!

2. Eat Prunes

You probably heard it from your grandmother's mouth: “Plums are good for digestion, my child! “. Of course, they are!  Plums are rich in fiber and therefore efficient at removing the junk in your body. If you have a bad memory of the wrinkled texture and special taste of your childhood, choose plum juice!

It is also important to hydrate well for the rest of the day.

3. Drink Lots Of Water

As I said, it is essential to drink a lot of water during the day. Research shows that people should drink up to 3 litres a day! Try to drink 1.5 or 2 litres and it will be very good. If you feel like something sweeter, choose other liquids such as fresh juices, bouillons and herbal teas, which are also considered natural laxatives.

4. Olive Oil

Drink olive oil on an empty stomach in a cup of hot water with a little lemon juice or honey. This accelerates the contractions of the gallbladder by stimulating the secretion of bile salts. This in turn promotes digestion.

5. Essential Oils

Essential oils are useful and highly recommended for occasional constipations. Simply put 1 drop of essential oil in a spoonful of vegetable oil and drink it before your meal or apply a few pure drops to the abdomen before a massage.

Natural Remedies And Tricks To Get Rid Of Your Blockage

Constipation, obstruction or blockage. The subject is not very sexy, but it is a very recognizable problem in many women. Much more than with men. Fortunately there are not only medicines, but also natural remedies against constipation!

Of course not every woman suffers from slow (or just terrible) bowel movements, but still women's bowels seem to be more sensitive than men. Older people are also more likely to suffer from it.

But I Eat So Healthy

That constipation is caused by what you eat is a logical thought. This is partly true: heavy food like gluten, wheat, pasta, but also bananas can be very clogging (especially in large quantities). That is different for each person, one is more sensitive to it than the other.

But… obstruction is also influenced by other factors, more than you might think. Because although your diet can be very healthy, stress, irregular living and sleeping, medication or your psychological and physical state can also cause a blockage. So even though you still have such a healthy, plant-based diet, constipation is still lurking!

To get rid of the blockage, we give the finest, but most of all natural ways to treat the blockage. But it is just as important – if not more important – to find out why you suffer from constipation. Unfortunately you don't find out 1, 2, 3, so try to keep track of your type of stool and also what you eat. Not really sexy, huh? But it is important to get to know your body in order to take good care of it  (and not be blocked) for four days.

There are different types of constipation, but the most common is due to poor nutrition, lack of exercise and emotional and stress related problems. Others suffer from irritable bowel syndrome.

How you recognize constipation or obstipation:

  • Less often to the toilet. Normal' varies from three times a day to three times a week.
  • When your stool is dry and hard. That makes it more difficult for your intestines.
  • You have the feeling that you are not able to empty your bowels completely. After visiting the toilet you still have the feeling that you have to go to the toilet.
  • The two symptoms above and a feeling of sluggishness and fatigue, dizziness, stomach cramps, headaches and a bloated feeling.

What Type Are You?

Check what type of stool you have There is a checklist to find out which type you belong to. Are you type 1 or 2? Then you are definitely at risk of constipation. (Checklist)

These natural ways at least help against clogging:

6. Train Your Bowels

You probably don't have poop on your to-do list, but maybe that's a good idea. Because your body needs routine. Fortunately, you can also train your pelvic muscles. You can just add these to your daily (or weekly) workout.

Also be careful not to push too much during a toilet visit, because it weakens your pelvic muscles.

7. Nutrition, Bacteria, And Fibres

Healthy intestinal flora is influenced by the balance of your diet, bacteria, and exercise. That's why we also need food with bacteria in it and are fermented, such as sauerkraut, kimchi, kefir, and kombucha. It's tasty too!

You can make your own kombucha. Living food promotes bowel movements, you can also take probiotics in other ways. Fruit and steamed vegetables are also very good for your intestinal flora, as are healthy fats such as olive oil and omega-3.

8. Peppermint Oil

If you suffer from constipation, then essential oil is good for you. Peppermint is always nice for your belly, so a good oil with peppermint can do wonders. Especially when you feel bloated. You can just rub it on your belly.

9. Ginger

Ginger also works against a blockage of your intestines, as it has a calming effect and so helps with bloating, flatulence and spasms.

Make a nice ginger tea or put slices of ginger in a bottle of water. By the way, warm water is better for you in case of a sore belly, it makes your bowels more relaxed. In addition, there are antioxidants that make you happier again!

10. Squatty Potty

Going to the toilet is best done in a squatting position. So in a squatting position. Your bowels can then relax, making your bowel movements easier.

You can do that by pulling something on your knees or buying a squatty potty (recommended!). It's a small stool that you put on against your toilet pot on which your feet can rest and thus assume a natural position.
