How Does CBD Work?

For many people, it is unclear how CBD oil or other products can help them. Nowadays it is available everywhere and has become extremely popular. To find out, we first have to look at how CBD oil works.

CBD, or cannabidiol, is one of the many active compounds found in the cannabis plant. Why CBD is an interesting alternative for many people is because it has no psychoactive effect on the mind. So just to be clear: CBD Drops do not contain THC, so you do not get high.

Often CBD Oil gets confused with Weed Oil, these are two completely different products. Weed oil does affect the mind.

What Is The Effect Of CBD Oil?

Cannabidiol acts on our endogenous cannabinoid system, also known as ECS. This system only emerged about 20 years ago, after the discovery of the known CB1 and CB2 receptors.

These are the cannabinoid receptors, which are found throughout the body and are part of the ECS. The cannabinoid system plays an important role in stress, memory, and learning new things.

The CB1 receptors are mainly located in the nerve cells of our brain and spine, but also in other parts of the body such as peripheral tissue.

We also have the CB2 receptors, located on the outside of the organs, mainly in cells related to the autoimmune system.

The Positive Effects Of CBD Oil

Countless people throughout the country use CBD oil to treat various diseases such as, for example:

✔ Depression. A serious mood disorder that affects about half a million Dutch people. The soothing effects of CBD oil can help combat depression. CBD is not psychoactive, so it has no impact on the mind. This is also one of the main reasons why people suffering from depression use it as an alternative.

✔ Migraine. Also, a common problem that can cause a lot of pain. These are often characterized by severe headaches and nausea. How one reacts to CBD is personal, although it is experienced positively by many people. So it is certainly worth a try to see how our CBD oil can affect your migraine.

✔ Sleeping problems. The lack of sleep can cause very unpleasant consequences. You are less productive throughout the day and simply feel lifeless. In addition, you quickly become irritated with your surroundings because of too little rest. For many people, falling asleep is a big problem. This can be caused by factors such as stress. The main characteristic of CBD oil is its soothing and relaxing effect on the body and mind. If you lie relaxed in bed, it is much easier to fall asleep, which wakes you up rested.

✔ Reducing stress. The soothing effects of Cannabidiol (CBD) can help reduce stress. Stress can have a negative impact on your health. Think for example of high blood pressure due to stress.

✔ Concentration disorders. ADHD is a good example of a concentration disorder, the difficulty in focusing on one subject. Often attention is paid to the wrong subjects that are not important. Many of our customers claim that our CBD oil helped them to concentrate better. They often indicate that it makes certain situations a lot less chaotic, allowing them to think clearly.

✔ Painful conditions. We all have somebody around us who has to deal with pain symptoms. They have often prescribed medication that has unpleasant side effects such as headaches or nausea. It is important to know that CBD oil has no side effects and does not affect the mind. Besides the soothing and possibly analgesic effect, it can be a good alternative for many people. It is definitely worth a try!

THC Or CBD?

It is important to determine whether the cannabis oil contains THC, CBD, or both. CBD and THC are substances found in hash or weed. THC creates the effect of hash and weed, being stoned. CBD itself has no effects, but it does influence the effect of THC (1). Cannabis oil with THC will get you high, but cannabis oil with CBD alone will not. THC has a different effect on the body and therefore also has other side effects than oil with CBD alone.

It is important to always consult your doctor before using cannabis oil. There may be risks for you.

Tips For Using CBD Oil:

  • Buy CBD oil from a reliable source. Make sure there is at least no or very little THC in it. This can be very difficult to check. Samples tested showed that a very large part did not contain what was on the label. Sometimes there was no CBD in it at all. Sometimes it even contained THC, while this was not mentioned. This can cause annoying side effects.
  • Start with a low dose and slowly build it up until you think you have achieved the desired effect.
  • Read all the forums on the internet carefully and see what the experiences of others are.
  • Always consult your family doctor or pharmacist first and continue to do so. If the CBD catches on, you can possibly lower the dosage of the other medication.
  • Be extra careful with other narcotics such as alcohol, benzodiazepines or opiates. CBD oil can enhance the effect of these drugs. So be extra careful in traffic.
  • If you don't notice any effect, stop it again. Unfortunately, it doesn't work for everyone.

Side effects And Interactions

Cannabis oil with CBD only seems to have very few side effects or interactions up until now. However, you should always be cautious when mixing different agents. The most common side effects of cannabis oil with THC are increased heart rate, dry mouth, dizziness and red eyes. These side effects can occur even at very low concentrations of THC. Some groups of people are at increased risk of side effects from cannabis oil:

  • People with schizophrenia
  • People with cardiovascular disease
  • People with autoimmune diseases
  • Youngsters (<20)
  • Pregnant women

CBD and THC interact with some medications. Sometimes cannabis oil reduces the effect of medication. In other cases, it potentiates some side effects. Cannabis oil, for example, also enhances the effect of damping agents such as alcohol, benzodiazepines (sleeping and sedatives), and opiates (painkillers).
